1000 Islands International Bridge

The Thousand Islands Bridge System extends from Collins Landing near Alexandria Bay, NY to Ivy Lea near Gananoque, Ontario covering a distance of 8.5 miles. The bridge system provides a direct connection between US Interstate RT 81 and Canada highway 401.
American Span
The American Span crosses the American Channel of the St. Lawrence River from the mainland to Wellesley Island with an 800 ft suspension bridge. The underclearance is 150 ft above the river. The span from abutment to abutment is 4500 ft.

 

Canadian Span
The 600 ft Canadian crossing, continuous Warren Truss span connects Hill Island with Constance Island. A suspension bridge of 348 ft. from Georgia Island to the Canadian mainland has 120 ft of underclearance above the St. Lawrence River. The suspension span providing 120 ft. of underclearance above the river. The Canadian span from abutment to abutment is 3,330 ft.

The U.S./Canadian boundary at the International Rift, between Wellesley Island and Hill island, is bridged by two parallel 90 ft. rigid frame arched spans of reinforced concrete with masonry facing.

Located between the American and Canadian spans on Hill Island, Ontario, Canada.

No other word can adequately describe the magnificent panoramic view of the famous 1000 Islands when seen from the spectacular Skydeck. From the moment you reach the first of the 3 observation decks you will agree that the 1000 Islands Skydeck is the only way to experience the majesty of the 1000 Islands. The elevator, running continuously takes only 40 seconds to reach the first glass enclosed observation deck. When you reach the 3rd observation deck the awe-inspiring panorama will take your breath away. The Skydeck is a vantage point 130 metres or 400 feet above the St. Lawrence River from which to view the splendours of nature. By day or night, rain or shine, each of mother natures weather whims provides an exciting and educational experience for the whole family. On a clear day you can see 65 km or 40 miles. Visitors will view islands of all shapes and sizes, the Canadian and U.S. spans of the 1000 Islands International Bridges, Boldt Castle, local villages, majestic homes and public parks.
